Amiibo is a scam

So you buy a figurine to watch a character that's already in the game fight....?

So instead of me fighting, the idea of Amiibo is to watch a CPU fight and level up... Why?

Does anyone else think this is a really dumb, pointless, shameless cash grab?

Yeah. No argument here.

Optional. If you needed it to unlock new characters then yes it would be a scam.

i would much rather have it be something small that adds minor features to multiple games than something mandatory to access locked content in single games
so i dont mind the way its implemented

I just hope there aren't 3,000 of these figures....and please don't make like a rack of limited edition amiibos that are vendor or event specific...i hate that crap. Just make them all available to everyone.. Also, I hope they are affordable... $5.00 is affordable, but when there are hundreds of them, it just became pricey...

As opposed to requiring a figurine to actually play the character?

You only have to look at skylanders and disney infinity to see exactly how it plays out. Fyi it's about $10-12 a pop.

I understand it's optional, but it's also completely pointless. I just want to double check I'm not alone here, you all also think this is completely dumb right?

Like, what's the point? Am I missing something, what's this for? I buy a figure so a character that's already in the game can fight, and I can fight it, so it can level up, and the purpose of this is...?

Two wrongs don't make a right. Just b/c it's a different kind of rip off doesn't mean it's not a rip off.

Not a fan of this route. We bought Skylanders for our youngest and, yeah, it was a cute game and the gimmick was interesting at first, but it got old quickly.

Will have to wait and see more info about how they are going to be integrated into the game.
