Nintendo says they're working on both a 2D and 3D Metroid, I'm assuming the 3D one will be on the Wii U, and the 2D one will be on the 3DS(almost ironic).
But it could be either way so which game do you think should be on what console.

We dont know anything yet. They also said they were working on a new Metroid around when the N64 came out, and it turned out the game was a GC game. They skipped an entire gen to figure out what to do with Metroid.

What theyre working on (if theyve even gotten anywhere yet) may not be a U game.

Metroid Prime proved to be very successful, relatively speaking, why not just stick with that? Retro Studios, I'm sure, is willing to pick up the task for a new Metroid.

3d on Wii U and 2d on 3ds. I don't see why they would choose anything different. But yeah, like the poster above said, there's still a chance Metroid will skip the Wii U/3ds gen if Nintendo can't come up with anything. Even if they came up with a concrete idea from now, the games still wouldn't be out till at least 2017 especially if retro studios is working on them. It took them 4 years just to make danky kong Country! Imagine a new Wii U metroid title 0.0

Both

So you want them to make 4 versions of this game? Both for each system? cause they're already making both a 2D and 3D version, TC is asking which system will get which.

Anyways, the obvious choice seems to be: 3D Prime-esque game = Wii U, and 2D Sidescroller = 3DS. But I half fear that Nintendo will choose the reverse for some reason... Maybe because making a Prime game on the 3DS would be easier to develop than an HD Prime game, and 2D on the Wii U would be easier.

I have nothing wrong with another Super Metroid-esque Console game, but personally I think the Wii U has one too many 2D Sidescrollers as it is, and a 2D Metroid wouldnt be helping.

The reason Metriod skipped the 64 was development issues(the 64 wasn't that great in that respect).
If development on the new Wii U game wasn't going anywhere then they wouldn't announce it.
