Overall which do you prefer, 2D games or 3D games.

3D, which is a major reason why I've been so disappointed in the Wii U. Over the weekend I played some MK8 and I spent some time just watching the replays of my entire races. Just looking at the large levels and imagining a fully 3D Mario game taking place in those types of environments made me really depressed about the lack of any ambitious 3D titles on the Wii U from Nintendo.

I think 2D games have less to screw up, so I feel a larger percentage of them end up as good games.

However, when 3D games are done right, they're my overall favorite. Case in point, 4 of my top 5 favorite games are 3D.

To me, they're equal. I couldn't give up one in favor of the other if I had a gun to my head.

That said, it depends on the series also. For Zelda, Mario, and DK, I prefer 2D. For Final Fantasy and Metal Gear, I prefer 3D.
