Innovation is ok, just dont go over the line. Wii U has some unnecessary things. The only new innovation I like is the gamepad screen which allow Off TV play due to how lazy i can be jsut from turning the TV on

Nintendo innovated more than Sony ever could and just because the Wii U screams GIMMICK! doesnt mean the past system never did. Although you are right that Sega was one of the true innovators.

Let's play a game lefky, il list a bunch of innovation nintendo did with their consoles and then you list a bunch of innovation your favourite console did. Try to match my number or even go over it. I bet it won't be as much as what nintendo did

So il start
1. NES had microphone
2. NES added one more button "the b button"
3. The D pad
4. First to have battery to allow save state
5. SNES started the four button layout
6. SNES started shoulder buttons
7. N64 started rumble feature
8. It revolutionize the analog stick for console
9. First console to feature more than 2 player
10. Game & watch was the first pocket console
11. Game boy had link cable to vs friends
12. GameCube started the shoulder triggers
13. GameCube can link up with the gba
14. Wii started motion controls
15. DS with the touch screen
16. Dual screen play
17. 3DS have 3D
18. Wii U has gyro sensor
19. Started what you call remote play
20. In built NFC

Il go with 20 for now. Try to list just as much for your favourite console


You didn't list a single console, you listed a bunch. LOL, Nintendo fanboys and their unrelenting need to be unfair hypocrites. Well, hypocrite I'm just gonna list whatever I like.

NES didn't have a built-in microphone.
Atari 5200, 12 face buttons.
Intellivision 16-way pad.
Games could save without batteries on discs, so Nintendo was going backwards.
Again, Atari 5200 12 face buttons.
Atari sticks had shoulder buttons.
Immersion, MS, and Sega Moto-Cross did rumble before N64.
Prinztronic had analog in the 70's. Vectrex, the first self-centering model.
Odysssey 200 = 4 player
Auto Race was the first portable, and Microvision the first with swappable games.
Atari Lynx released the same year as Gameboy with 17 player capability.
Dualshock had the first "trigger" position buttons.
DC was linking up with VMU before GC existed. So was PS1 and Pocketstation.
They stole the Wiimote tech from Philips and the console-wand concept from Sony.
Game.com had touchscreen way before DS existed.
DC and VMU again.
Tomytronic 3D
Gyro is just tilt-sensing which PS3 has always had from Sixaxis onwards.
What started remote play? Empty sky? Try listing a console...LOL.

Also a lot of the best selling recent new IPs are ones that closely follow of a previously existing best selling series from the same or different developer under a different publisher.
