How to answer:
1. Subtract 2014 from the year you got your first console/handheld.
2. Count all the consoles AND handhelds you own / owned.
3. Divide the years in (1) by systems in (2) to get the answer.

E.g.
1. I bought my first handheld (game & watch) in 1991.
2014 - 1991 = 23 years

2. I owned :
Game & Watch 1991
NES 1996
Genesis 1999
Playstation 1 2003
Playstation 2 2008
DS 2010
Wii 2012

That is 7 systems

3. 21 years / 7 systems = 3 years per system. 1 system every 3 years.

k, why not.......

First bought System: Gameboy Color; 2000; so 14 Years of active console buying.

Consoles I bought myself (I won't count stuff my parents bought, but I factually "owned"):

01 Gameboy Color
01 GBA
01 NDS
02 3DS
05 PSP (these things break soooo easily......)
01 Gamecube
01 PS2
01 Wii
01 PS3
01 WiiU
------------------------------------
15 Consoles bought

-> 14/15=~0,93 Years per console

If it was meant without considering rebuys:

10 Consoles-> 14/10=1,4 Years per Console

2002 = PS2
2006 = P3
2005 = PSP
2007 = 360
2011 = DS
2012 = 3DS.

So i guess ever 1-2 years then.

17 years, 8 consoles. And that is Nintendo only. I thought it would be more years per console, seeing how long life cycles are...
#10HighwayPilotPosted 7/19/2014 11:20:29 AM
Just about 4 years. It was less in the late 90s and early 2000's, but there's been 4-5 years between my purchases the past 10 years. Might get a 3DS or Vita this or next year so the number will drop again.
