The REAL reason I purchased a Wii U...

Netflix :)

JK Netflix is a small reason.

Yoshi's Island GBA, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Mario Kart 8, Zelda U were the main reasons for purchasing this system, was going to put on hold purchasing the Wii U for another year or so but I couldn't resist that Mario Kart 8 bundle.

I was about to say... Netflix on the Wii U is so terrible. Just horrific. No Wiimote support, leaves the Gamepad on, no profiles. It's actually better on the Wii.... Just not HD.

Other then that the games out already and the games coming are awesome.

Netflix is the reason I bought my Wii U too! Well, kinda... indirectly...

Satisfaction with previous libraries and hardware reliability convinced me to buy a Wii U eventually. Backwards compatibility, system transfer, a substantial Wii backlog, and wanting to give my Wii to my dad to serve Netflix convinced me to buy a Wii U at launch.

The presentation of Netflix on Wii wasn't all that great, but to say it was better on the Wii is saying a lot, but I will be the judge of that soon, when my Netflix membership goes through, which should be soon, but it's not really about the menus and stuff, if I can watch the movie without any problems, that's all I need, also if there is porn, that's even better.

i can't agree at all.
control via touchscreen is so much more precise than Wiimote. especially since if you're sitting to the side of the TV in a larger room the Wiimote becomes a nightmare. with touch, you're 100% accurate with no issues.

try rewinding with the Wiimote and precisely picking the spot you needed. now try it with the stylus on the touchscreen and realize that it's impossible to NOT get exactly where you want.

and leaving the gamepad on is no big deal. just set it on the charging cradle and grab it back when you need to select something else. i've marathon-watched shows for hours and it never runs out, the cradle keeps it alive as long as you want.

plus, it's HD.

how is any of that horrific?

I actually think it's the opposite. Throw the gamepad on anyone's lap and people start using netflix on Wii U instantly. Try that with a wii remote. And, of course, netflix in HD. And you can browse and change settings on the gamepad while playing the video.

But since the Wii U doesn't support Dolby Digital or DTS aren't you only getting stereo sound from Netflix?
