Charging my Wii U pro controller: how do I know when it's done?

I just bought a Wii U and a Wii U Pro Controller yesterday. The controller has been charging for over 4 hours now, and the battery light is STILL on.

Is this normal? How do I know when it's finished charging? Does the battery light turn off when its done charging, and if so, is it normal for it to take such a long time?
I'll believe that corporations are people when Texas executes one.

When the orange light goes off, and you can play it while charging

It takes long because it lasts so long, I assume. 80 hours supposedly.
