Redownloading games?

#1SSBMaster11Posted 7/22/2014 8:45:35 PM
I want to factory reset my console, because of the stupid Pikmin 3 patch I accidentally downloaded. But I'm a bit concerned about the games I have downloaded. I know I can copy my data over to a flash drive, and copy it back. But will I be able to redownload games? Are they tied to my Nintendo Network ID, or to my console? I really don't want to lose the games I have downloaded...

Uh, you can just delete the patch you know.

Although... why?

No you can't delete the patch. If you do, it won't start. I've even tried erasing my entire Pikmin 3 save data. Why? I want to speedrun the game, and they fixed A LOT of time-saving glitches. So...can I redownload my games if I reset my console?

Speedrunning isn't cheating...that's kinda the point, to play the game as fast as possible, without cheating...

glitching =/= cheating

But that's not the point of this topic. I asked a simple question, "will it be possible to reset my console, and not lose my games?" And no one has given me an answer either way.

If it's like the 3DS, then the eShop and what's on the console are separate. Though I've never actually messed with it so I'm not certain.

I'll just say this....
The very definition of "factory resetting" IS "losing all your games".

That's like saying "Can you chuck water on my face, and not get my face wet"? :P

So, um... roll on E3?

Yes, you'll lose your games, but that's not answering the question.

A better metaphor would be if after getting my face splashed would I be allowed to dry it?
