Just my luck, bought my first refurbished system and it's broken.

"Refurbished" is corp-speak for "Busted crap that we looked at and maybe even fixed. Possibly."

Huh I didn't even think Nintendo's refurbs were refurbs. The one I bought was in such perfect condition I assumed they were just selling extra inventory to try to recoup some money. Sucks that you got a busted one.

I've said this countless times, never by a refurbished console! Its too risky. And now you know why.

The Wii U board is seriously just awful.

I've never heard of anyone having problems with a refurb from Nintendo. This is the first I've heard. You just got unlucky.

Mine came in last Friday, and the only problem I've had so far is that it froze on the eshop once.

Same here, haven't had a single problem with my refurb. The Nintendo customer service team is really nice, though. They'll help you get a working console asap.

True, plus I got to listen to some sweet Legend of Zelda music every time they put me on hold.

Bros my 60GB BC PS3 I got three years ago was refurbished from GameStop and it has been a champion so far. Obviously I would have preferred a new one... but I also liked paying $200 instead of $600 for it. :p

I am surprised that Nintendo let a not 100% unit out of the factory in the first place, but after having dealt with their repair process before, you won't be waiting long.

How is it risky when it has a 1 year warranty?
