people do realize that new consoles cost money and take years to release?

even if Nintendo released a new "next-gen" super console this or next year. It would cost a ton of money to make and might even put them in a worse situation?

It would definitely put them in a worse situation because all if these scrubs who didn't buy the Wii U claiming they want something more powerful from Nintendo still wouldn't buy it. It would be a wasted effort.

I didn't say releasing a new consoles was a GOOD idea.

Just AN idea.

Well according to nintendo fanboys nintendo has tons of money to burn, so why not make a new console and just drop the wii u, clearly there's no saving it if MK8 could not

here's an idea:

DITCH THE ****ING GAMEPAD!

XB1 ditching Kinect sold more XB1s in June than MK8 sold Wii Us, so there is precident of ditching something that many people don't want and selling the system at a lower price as a result being a good idea

Not only this TC, but people want them to just 'create' a new online infrastructure as vast and as immersive as Live or PSO. As if it would only take a few months perhaps. They were ready to go with EA, because they realised they needed people who were already knowledgeable in this sector. And we all know what happened there.

They also have the 3DS to maintain and develop for. As well as the 'next' Nintendo handheld.

And to top it off, fans expect them to develop realistically about 5 AAA games with the same budget and time as Super Mario Galaxy or Zelda, every year for both consoles. AS WELL as making the worlds as detailed as Red Dead Redemption/Skyrim/Fallout 3. And maintain support for all their games through at least 2 or 3 'proper' DLC packs.

I really do think Nintendo are over-taxed. They have to do all the work of about 4 or 5 software developers and be a console manufacturer as well. Not to mention maintain and develop a up-to-spec online infrastructure.

How can they keep going like this? They simply cannot put out a game like Super Mario Galaxy with the same budget as something like Destiny or even GTA 5.

Oh, for a new 'proper' Shining Force..and a new Panel de Pon game and a new english release of Puyo Puyo....

Whether we or Nintendo like it or not... We're stuck with the Gamepad... Ditching now is pointless...

Honestly this quarterly loss isn't that bad. Was anyone expecting a big profit this quarter anyway? Nintendo will probably also have a loss in the 2nd quarter but I bet they'll have a massive Q3 (Christmas time). Rushing out a new console would be the worst thing to do, of course Nintendo has to make sure their next console is not underpowered.

Nintendo have never really had a "normal," powerful modern console. The Gamecube was not underpowered, but the mini-discs were weird (although profitable for Nintendo IIRC).

The real wildcard is the Amiibo thing, that could a huge boon for Nintendo or the flop that makes them enter panic mode.

Yeah, because ALL Nintendo fans just accept every thing Nintendo does without any criticisms, right? Nope, mainly it's just the drones and fools that think Nintendo is doing the Wii U right.

What?

I thought there was some "Push to make best selling console" button and Nintendo refused to use it?
