Releasing JRPGs for the most successful Japanese console is only natural (WiiU). Announcing, or even worse, releasing JRPGs for a console that's been selling way worse than its last-gen counterpart is pure nonsense (PS4).

TL;DR: Where are the console JRPGs this gen?

*In Japan, the land of JPRGs.

Playstation consoles have been the undisputed kings of JRPGs. Every single gen. Maybe that's why

Because JRPGs are kind of bad as of late. Its hard to find a good one these days. PS2 had good JRPGs. PS3, not so much

If Japanese companies are making games for a Japanese audience, they're making them for handhelds or mobile devices, unfortunately. Japanese console game developers make their games to appeal to Western audiences these days, because that's who console games sell to.

Wii had far better JRPGs, even if there weren't alot. PS3 really sucked with JRPGs with the exception of a few. Cant wait for P5 though. If you want good JRPGs you're gonna have to get a 3DS or Vita.

Neither are doing great, but Wii U actually has games people over there would play.
I am hoping there would be a couple of game announcements out of it. It is shaping up to be the console on top over there of the three. Sure X1 didn't launch yet but that has low expectations.

well 3DS does far better than Vita yet Vita gets a lot of RPGs that the 3DS doesn't...

3DS barely has any good games, most of them are uninspired sequels. The JRPGS aren't that good either, because they're mostly hallways like Shin Megami, or ones with crap story like Etrian Odyssey.

I really have only enjoyed Link Between Worlds and Project X Zone. Smash 3ds will be so much better than anything on the system, it'll be ridiculous.

As for JRPGs on the Wii U, obviously X will be more than enough for awhile.
