So what happened with that new game studios acquisitions thing?

Nintendo announced this back in January. But so far they haven't acquired anything. I was hoping they'd get capcom. But with the recent 97 million dollar loss, that doesn't seem possible anymore. It's a shame. I'm tired of only getting one triple A game every four months, because nintendo doesn't have enough resources.

Takes time
idk about buying them, but i hope they team up with all the Japanese devs. Make old school type from Konami, Capcom, Square, etc.

took months of silence before we ever learned that Sega bought Atlus. it's not surprising that this stuff is kept so quiet and takes forever.

It takes awhile

Wouldn't it be funny though if it was a merger with Koei Tecmo? They're so chummy lately, lol.

Pretty much what everyone says, it takes time, negotiations, etc.

Everything I wrote there is still valid, except that since then, Capcom's market cap has increased to about US$1.3bn. That'd mean that a takeover would cost Nintendo significantly more than that - probably around US$1.6bn rather than the US$1.2bn I estimated at the time.

Capcom's value to Nintendo hasn't changed. It's still a few hundred million dollars at most. Back in April a Nintendo purchase of Capcom would have been a bad idea. Right now, it would be a terrible, stupid idea.

They aren't going to merge with anyone. They have no need to atm. They are seeking to acquire, there's an obvious difference. Meaning, IF they did anything with Koei Tecmo, it wouldn't become Nintendo Tecmo, or anything like that, it'll be Nintendo, because they would have bought them. Meaning, they'd still be Koei Tecmo, they'd just be Nintendo exclusive, forever. Unless Nintendo allowed otherwise, which I doubt.

As for Capcom, I would love it. I don't know the probability of it happening, as I don't know anything about business acquisitions, and so on. I'd still love it, especially, if they did it on time to stop Breath of Fire 6, and then make it a real game.
