Should Zelda U have a Loot and Gear system?

That's definitely the best example to work from. To make it fit Zelda which has specific items needed for different puzzles and such, then you could have loot that would affect the items themselves, like more damage, longer stun time, etc.

They have had loot systems since OoT. Even more so with the most recent addition with upgrades from things you find.

No it shouldn't. The charm of Zelda is the simplicity of the game mechanics being used in unique ways. Adding a loot and gear system is just going to turn it into Elder Scrolls and any other generic RPG in that same mold. It will put a lot of people off of the game.

The random rpg elements they added to Darksiders is a large reason why the game is complete and utter s***. (Along with bland story, bland level design, and just overall being a poor attempt at being a "mature" Zelda game)

Zelda needs to evolve... And Darksiders is Awesome, but I respect your opinion.
