The GameCube had sold around 9.5 mil by this time in its life

When will the WiiU reach that number?

The GC was also "prepared for" by Nintendo and they had heavy hitters ready.

Like EVERYTHING this "gen", the Wii U was a rush job. Nintendo is still trying to give it the games it needed a year ago.

The gamecube had a stronger launch. Give the Wii U some time to get its bearings and build up a library. And yes, it has taken way longer than it should have for this to happen.

Oh man, I forgot the days of good launches. PS2 and GCN launches were great!

If it keeps selling around the monthly numbers it did in July, a bit over a year but that doesn't account for the holiday bump. My guess is during the first half of next year.

I never understood the flack the GameCube got on the IGN boards back then. Luigis Mansion, Super Monkey Ball, Rogue Squadron 2, Melee, Pikmin, Eternal Darkness, Starfox Adventures, Mario Sunshine, Animal Crossing, Resident Evil, and Metroid Prime are all games I purchased during its first year. It also had some decent ports.

I'd place my bet on spring 2015.

Really? You must be remembering a different PS2 launch than the one I remember...

You guys will never stop making excuses. The games are there. There just aren't that many people who want to play them. Nintendo's core audience has been dwindling away since the n64 days.

To be fair the gamecube dropped to a $100 and the Wii u is more costly. Take a hint Ninteno, drop the price and new bundles
