If there is another four month retail drought, that just might hurt them. Of course, they would have to have one, first.

2012 had all sorts of titles release at launch.

2013
March had Lego City Undercover which was published by Nintendo. This is also only a three-month drought, not four. There also was Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate from Capcom.
(If Wii releases count, there was Pandora's Tower in April 2013)
May had that Resident Evil game. Third-party, sure, but it's still retail.
June: Game and Wario
August: Pikmin 3 and Super Luigi U
September: Wonderful 101
October: Zelda TWW HD
November: Super Mario 3D World
December: Mario and Sonic at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games

2014
January: Wii Fit U
February: DKCTF
May: MK8
July: Wii Sports Club
September: Hyrule Warriors
October: Bayonetta 2
November: Sonic Boom, SSB for Wii U (SSB5)
December: Captain Toad (Japan and US, January 2015 for EU/AUS)

And of course the January-December 2015 remasters automatically disqualify the year from a four-month drought (EU/AUS get Captain Toad in January, anyway) and Project Giant Robot, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Yoshi Wooly World, Kirby Rainbow Curse, XBCX, Star Fox U and The Legend of Zelda among other titles probably mean the next four-month drought is 2016 or in 2017 right before the next console releases.

They've survived this long.
