Why does nintendo not invest in online MP?

It's not ideal by any stretch, but many recent and future Wii U games from Nintendo have online multiplayer of some kind. Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Smash Brothers, Splatoon, Devil's Third. They're improving.

Because for some odd reason they think friends still get together and play co-op on the couch. ::rolls eyes::

Or they could do both co-op and online. What a thought, Two different modes in the same game!

Shhhh, don't say that. Adding features will only confuse Nintendo and their fanboys.

They don't really get it. A fair number of their games would benefit from it, but it's missing. MK8 was rather barebones when you get down to it. Brawl was terrible both in "playlist / mode" offerings and connection quality. The new Smash looks like it might be the first of their major titles to really nail online on one of their consoles, but that's probably more optimism than they realistically deserve based on what they've done in the past.

real reason: because they want their games to be playable when their servers shut down. remember brawl and mmwii...

Fun fact: not everyone is anti-social in real life and has to rely on online gaming for fun. Sorry if this offends, but frankly.. this generation is the "lets stare at screens instead of being near people" attitude. Mobile phones, tablets, etc. People would rather text than actually hear someone's voice. People would rather online game with strangers, than play with friends they have in real life.

The excuse of "people are busy" is still common, but such a load of crap. Friends make time for friends.. period. Schedules dont always match up well, but its not impossible.

Not really. Ignorant post that not living next to your best friend is "anti-social" is ignorant. "Friends make time for friends.. period" is a bigger load of crap. Online gaming is good for when schedules don't match up, and more convenient if you don't live in a big gaming area, around people that share your gaming habits, or just don't have neighbors that you should talk to. Plus, "people are busy".
