No, Nintendo uses it's own proprietary coding to control the interaction between the Pad and WiiU. I suppose theoretically someone could hack an Ipad with custom software to make it impersonate a Wii pad, but it'd require breaking the law to do it.

I never said I knew the answer. I figured they're both about the same size and do about the same thing so it could be a possibility.

The ipad is more powerful than the WiiU tablet. So I don't think the WiiU will be able to handle it.
