Open World games pretty much need a decent map system, so I'm not too bummed out

Hopefully this is just one of the options. An item management thing is very useful in Zelda/RPGs. The gyroscope for the bow was also amazingly useful.

I think the better point to take away from that quote is not about how the game pad is used but how the game won't be pointing us exactly where to go every 5 seconds and might actually contain real adventure elements. There is a 96% chance I will love this game.
