Would this be a good place to start or not?

Thanks in advance!

....and what's with the 'solid'?

Does this appear in all the related games?

Yeah, sure. Some would suggest you play the first game though, first as in MGS1.

It's called Metal Gear Solid because the main character's code name if I recall correctly.

I get wasted and get on the boards. That kiddies, is a bad idea.

Download MGS1 off PSN and get this collection and play them in order of release which is MGS, MGS2, MGS3 MGS Portable Ops (if you have a PSP) and MGS4. If you're into old school games then Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake takes place before MGS1.

The "Solid" indicates the series going 3D in 1998 with MGS1, as the previous two Metal Gear games were in 2D.

iirc, the "solid" refers to the transition of sprites to "solid" 3D models.

A good thing to do would be to play in chronological order. MGS3 > (If you want, Portable Ops, but it's not really necessary) > Peace Walker > Metal Gear (included in the HD version of MGS3) > Metal Gear 2 (also included) > Metal Gear Solid (not included) > MGS2 > Metal Gear Solid 4 (also not included).

"So I really am important? How I feel when I'm drunk is correct?"
"Yes, except the Dave Matthews Band doesn't rock."

You cant compare RE5 to Dead Space, its like comparing a broken SDTV to brand new HDTV.

That's fine for someone who already played the series. For someone new, that's really not a great idea.

Please stop using apostrophes for plurals.

I suggest you start them in this order:

MGS1 > MGS2 >MGS3 >MGS4>PW

Then I suggest:

MGS3>PO>PW>MG>MG2:SS>MGS1>MGS2>MGS4

And please, do everybody a favor by paying attention to conversations/cutscenes and don't skip anything.

I can't count the reasons I should stay. One by one they all just fade away.
