I was pretty appalled by Ubisoft's conference. I look away for one second, hear moaning, and when I look back, there is a topless woman giving a guy a lapdance on my screen. I think it was ridiculously gratuitous and unnecessary to put that in the trailer, and absolutely disgusting that they chose to kick off their conference with a topless woman right off the bat. Ubisoft has shown that they have zero respect for women and only view them as sex objects to sell copies of their game. "Hey, if we show off a topless chick at E3, then lonely neckbeards will buy our game in the hope of seeing more topless chicks!"
Absolutely disgusting. I'm not even sure I want the game anymore.
I know I'm not alone in my thinking, because there are articles popping up about this subject, like this one: http://www.examiner.com/article/has-nintendo-turned-samus-aran-into-a-sex-object
Was anyone else offended when a half-naked chick started gyrating around in the middle of E3?
Nope. Your priorities are out of whack if you're bothered by that but okay with all the imagery of people/animals being brutally killed.
Bingo, my thoughts exactly. I forget who said it but years ago I saw a comedian ask the question: "Why in movies is it ok to see a man chop off a woman's breasts but god help him of he touches them in a pleasuring way?".
Plus, if showing breasts and lapdances bothers you blame consumers. What shows get the highest ratings? Crap where no talent or any redeeming entertaininment qualities being lacking means squat, just as long as it stars someone who shows deep cleavage, big ass and has made their own porn films and generally act like great big whores and drunken louts (Cardashians, Jersey Shore). As long as consumers glamorize and watch shows like that over things with substance we will get this kind of thing, because that is what the public is responding well to.
