Far Cry 3

Here are some reasons why I think they need to keep the original placeholder boxart. http://i.imgur.com/CAMb7.jpg

Sometimes, simpler is stronger for getting a point across when less is more. The original placeholder image denotes your tropical FC3 experience with a pristine air of calm and collective. It invites the player to exploration. A sunken daggar in the shallows represents solitude, yet also struggle in a barebones lawless floating chunk of paradise. The background of high clouds and mountains strooped in shrubbery make the FC3 world appear vast and open, like how sandbox games should be. All in all it is a stunning photograph that should probably be in an art gallery.

Now this new one, in where the player is buried under sand so far down that he couldn't get himself out with two chopsticks, is condescending and alienating. We understand that Vaas is crushed on by all of the developing staff, and that his image is based on one of them, but now it's at the expense of their main protagonist. They are not only pooping on Jason Brody with this boxart, but they are pooping on the player as it implies hopelessness and loserdom.

I don't think Vaas is ugly, I just think the way his character interacts with Jason is ugly. It's like they've made him into some sort of enemy that is way cooler than you that you have no chance defeating because you're a d-bag and he's so awesome. That's what this whole over focus on Vaas thing implies to me anyway. WHY CAN't I Be Cool Like Vass?? grrrr
