Single player co-op?

Can you not play co-op as a single player with 3 AI companions like LFD? Would be really handy as the online servers are still a bit shaky and I've got nobody to play local co-op with! (Genuine tears) At the very least I would hope that the option could be patched Ian some point.

Obviously I hope that Ian isn't patched. I do hope that its patched though...!
