I think it would have been cool if Riley would have got Stockholme Syndrome and actually started working for Vaas/ Hoyt... and you had to stop him, through violence or a cut scene depending on if you wanted to kill him or not.

Actually, I get the feeling that was supposed to happen.

Why did Keith tell you Riley had been shot?

Why did you see the sequence of Hoyt trying to convince Riley to work for him during one of your drug trips?

I'm guessing it was something they couldn't implement in the game in time, and so they changed it but forgot or couldn't change the references to it.

Honestly I think it would be stupid, the freaking Jews in Hitler's concentration camps didnt suddenly love Hitler and want to figt for him when they got to the camps.

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding you, but Riley definitely was shot. He had a hole in his chest when you find him in the prison. In fact, Jason even sticks his finger in the bullet wound to torture him.

He's supposed to represent Jason in the drug trip. Note that Jason and Vaas switch places as well as Jason and Buck. The Hallucinations are there simply to clue you in on who has who.

Yes, he was shot. What I meant to say is: why did Keith tell you Riley was killed? The simple answer is that he thought Riley was killed.

I know he changes places in the sequence, but the dialogue from the other hallucinations can be found in the game almost word for word, but not the one with Riley.

I'm not saying it's a plot hole or anything. Because the time spent on the second island seems so very short, it just makes me wonder if more wasn't planned, but they had to cut it short.

No, but Hoyt makes references to rules a lot whenever you see him.

'I only have three simple rules you have to follow"

"Now If you break one of these rules: I roast you in the furnace till your skin crackles like a chicken."

"Sorry, house rules!"

Note that Vaas' dialogue in the scene isn't said at all either. At no point does he say 'You are so close to the end! Come on, end it!". The closest is him baiting Jason to shoot him.

Hoyt's remark of "You want to work for me, kid?" is likely a reference to Jason's infiltration into the Privateer's.

Oh, and you're right about Keith. In his defense, what would you think if you saw your friend get shot and fall while in a chaotic environment?
