Play with friends in multiplayer?

It's probably just something obvious I'm missing, but how do you play with your friends in multiplayer? The only thing I can manage to do is start searching, I don't see a way to start up a lobby first to get everyone together. Do I just have to join a friend already in a game? And is it the same for co-op? Cause that really sucks if I can't play easily with friends.

In CoD you call in killstreaks to get kills for you. In Battlefield you watch your teammate kill you, steal the chopper and crash into the jet as he takes off!

There is no party system in FC3. You have to join a multiplayer game, then invite your friends if there is enough free space. I believe you have a button to automatically invite your XBL party to the current game, but there is no guarantee that they join the same team.

Co-op can be played privately. You can host a "private" match. Same XP gain, just not public for other players to join. On the flip-side, you choose your own chapter/dfficulty and launch at your own leisure.
