FINALLY news about what they're doing with map hosting (link) (patch info)

Points of interest:

-We can reset outposts after taking them all and completing the game

-New "Master Difficulty" that is "Worse than malaria"

-Improved feedback options for user made maps

-Can search by map maker

-Easier to read "Skip Map"


And what is for me and most map makers "The Big One":

We can now "beta test" maps and random players will be able to join and vote on the map. Still no playlists... still no choosing what lobby to join... still worse than FC2.


There is currently no ETA on this patch.

Such a ****ing let down.

From a programmer's point of view, they only implemented things that were "easy". They didn't really go out of their way much to add the key things we've requested.

Can't believe there's still no map rotation in private/custom games, and that you have force everyone out of your lobby just to restart a new one with a different map choice and HOPE they all come back to your new lobby.... Yeah, right.

What an ass-backwards way to set something up.

It's at least something.

I would have figured they would have added more to a patch like this, since they have to send it off for certification and that costs at least $10,000.

I'm thankful I'll be able to reset outposts and that there's a tougher difficulty level.

I wish it could have been a more substantial update, but I'll take it.

I would like to hear about any possible DLC though.

I'm looking forward to the SP improvements but I don't think this is enough to bring me back to map making.

I'm looking forward to being able to reset outposts, mainly because taking over outposts was my favorite part of the game. It was always a challenge to try to take one without firing a single shot lol

The SP changes sound great but its likely the MP will never bounce back. The damage has already been done, hopefully this will be a lesson learned when FC4 rolls out.

Learn it's lesson? No. It will be ME who learns my lesson. FC1 for consoles was the series first attempt at MP and I was more than willing to forgive their mistakes because it was a good first try and fun despite flaws. FC2's MP launch was abysmal but it was fixed. However it was flawed at the core and a step down from FCIP. Nonetheless because of the Map Editor it remained fun. FC3s MP launch is the worst atrocity I've experienced in 20 years of gaming. It's a buggy mess and flawed to the very core with no realistic way to fix it.

I have learned MY lesson.
