How to use the Slime Finder & the way towards Slime Farming Nirvana.

#1RavenNeverMorePosted 7/17/2012 2:55:08 PM
Thanks to Zombie Chicken(sic), I was able to find a slime farm right away on one of my old maps. My old computer once I put in my information would NOT show the slime chunks on the graph on the slme finder website. Yesterday, using a NOOK, I was able to see the slime chunks and expand my farm. What you want to look for are slime chunks that are literally right beside each other. In just a couple of spots there was this slime chunk shape available (realize that each S is a 16x16 green slime chunk the website):

S
S
SS

When you click on the chunk on the graph it will literally give you the X & Z coordinates for the 16x16 chunk (if you were to walk diagonally from one corner of the room to the other).

Dig down to bedrock, and complete the 16x16, 3 block high room. I then cut out the center of the outside wall and place torches all the way around the perimeter of the room. That floor is finished. Then place a ladder on the wall and cut another 16x16, 3 block high room directly above the floor you just finished. Once that floor is done (dont forget the torches all the way around the perimeter) build your ladder up one more time, and build one more 16x16, 3 block high room. For the final and upper floor, I put glowstone in the ceiling to really ramp up the light on the 3rd floor) This room should be under Y 16 still. That is for just one S on the map above. Once you complete 3-4 farms, the slime gets stupid. I have been playing on normal. In 2-3 days, I have killed over 700 slime(per the leaderboards).

Just one of those farms like that above can easily sustain a sticky piston supply for 5-6 dedicated builders.

If you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask.

So if the co-ords I get are 0,112 to 16, 128, how big an area is that?

Im not sure exactly but thats not really that big.
If you look at my vid I posted today your farm is going to be alot smaller than that.

Well I've got two green squares next to each other below my main build area, according to the map, one with those numbers and the other is -16, 112 to 0, 128. I'm just trying to figure out exactly what I need to clear out, like what the coordinates are for the 4 corners of the rectangle.

It is the 16x16 slime chunk. Go to X 0,Z 112 and dig down to bedrock. Cut out the chunk using both sets of coords. Once you have it cut out, walk to the corner for x 0, Z 112. Walk diagonally to the other corner. It will be X 16, Z 128.

Thats your answer.

The 4 corners are always going to contain at least (1) of your original 4 numbers, with 2 of the corners containing the coords. given to you the website. Those 2 sets of numbers could give you 6 16 x16 rooms (3 on top of each other for both). You want 4 chunks close together for optimal farming, not just 2.

I think I got it now. Found a 3 chunk long group that should be slime spawning areas. Got it all measured out on the surface, just need to dig out the underground. Thanks guys.

6 is a good height for the floor of the slime farm, right?
