Halo 3 50s should get special unlocks in Halo 4.

On this topic anyone who is not a 50 and wants to play some ranked feel free to add:

Sniper Pro 32

Halo 4 def needs a 1-50 system going. It was amazing.

This would only work if you got to 50th in Halo 4 only. It is incredibly tricky to make a system to check Halo 3 for your rank, recognize what level you are, take that back over to Halo 4, read it and make it unlock a playlist.... There is no point in doing that....

The visible ranks were a pain in the ass. They became something more than a skill level to too many people and that was a problem. Derankers and boosters ruined the trueskill matchmaking system for a lot of people.

Nothing worse than being teamed with a load of 40-50s who can't aim a gun straight, but got high skill levels by boosting in doubles games.

I prefer keeping the number hidden for the sake of detering boosting behaviour and improving the ability to have balanced skill leveled players, but when they start rewarding the players who put lesser players to the (energy) sword every match, it seems silly.

As pointless as they are, XP based rank unlocks work better in a way because anyone can reach the max level, but some will do it quicker. So long as it's cosmetic stuff only like Reach's appearance unlocks, it's all gravy.

I really don't think you played Halo 3 much. Just because you had a booster on your team doesn't mean you automatically will be 40-50. If that was the case, people wouldn't buy accounts but rather they would make a boosting account with the one months on their xbox. Anyone who got to atleast 40 by playing the game rather than buying an account knew how to play the game. They might not know how to play the game as much as a lot of other people, but saying they "cant aim a gun straight" is taking it too far.

Second, whos to say that Halo 4 won't or can't have a combination of HR and H2/3 system. Halo 3 did a smaller version of this already.

Third, you really think every game is filled with boosters and derankers? HR was filled with people who "can't aim a gun straight" but still managed to get to the rank of general. You get paired up with these kids because you have the same rank.

Fourth, putting lesser players to the sword is the point of a ranking system. Why should a very good player have the same rank (or lower) than that of a noob? Because he puts in more time? This is why I think having a combination of Reach/1-50 is better than just Reach. But I think pretty much everyone agrees that the arena system is just flat out awful.

so being matched up novas, legend, etc. who can't aim a gun straight is any better? But instead of paying, they played firefight.

Reach's trueskill is "hidden", but it's rarely used to match up similar skilled players. Halo 3 definitely matched players based on skill more often.

I have a good idea regarding this.

They should not give a damn that you got rank 50 in Halo 3. Just like everyone here does, and just like the rest of the world does.

ok here is a system that works for everybody:

Halo 4 can have a social playlist(slayer, objective, BTB, etc) and it can also have an arena type playlist where it has the 1-50 ranks from Halo 3.

in the social playlist you level up by credits to general grade 4

in the 1-50 playlist there would be slayer, doubles, mlg, etc and your number would be different for each playlist
