People just need to seperate 'the game' from canon. For example, a plasma bolt would kill anyone a a hit in canon, however, in game marines ( and ODSTs) take multiple hits. Why? Becuse thats funs, that the game, some canonical things are sacrificed in the sake for gameplay. Unless there is something big in the story that breaks complete canon, I expect things tpo be fine.
