Unless you're playing a Capcom game, or a game that requires an online pass (Again, a Capcom game), DLC is entirely optional. Get over it.
Now playing - Call of Duty: Black Ops (360), Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3)

IIRC, Halo 4 will have some type of Online Pass.

Also, while DLC is optional, I remember when games used to have unlockables, sidequests, extra weapons, and etc. already in the game.

But meh.

As for the TC...
Did you know games now are actually cheaper than they were in the past?

This was never said, but it may end up being true.

The stuff for War Games in the Limited Edition is for FUTURE DLC.

Not cheaper than they were on the PS2/XBOX/Gamecube, which was $49.99.

Unless you're trying to be smarmy, in which case I don't care because $59.99 is still 10 bucks more than $49.99.

(And that's not taking into consideration any of the DLC companies require you to buy now, which can sometimes be more expensive than the actual game.

The LE = A season pass.

However, there was something about an online pass for multiplayer or Spartan Ops IIRC.

You are not considering how the economy has changed.
