if you have to unlock weapons and perks in Halo 4 , it's not competetive anymore

And what if you kicked someone from the game because they were betraying you? What would stop them from simply joining right back in again.

The fact that it goes through matchmaking instead of you picking a game.

The only reason quitting was a big deal is because the game wouldn't refill. And it's not that big of an issue in CoD.

Halo has been competitive, but who makes it competitive? The players! Of course, Halo itself is for casual gamers with a lot of learning curve. It's the players that make Halo competitive, and I shouldn't doubt that Halo 4 would be competitive made by the players.

Agree 100%. Screw custom classes, killstreak rewards, and credit unlocks for anything besides armor pieces that don't affect gameplay. I just don't want any of that crap in my Halo.

It's my Halo too, not just yours. It's everyone's including 343i with ownership right.

you clearly don't understand the meaning of a competitive game .. we , as the players , can't decide if it's competitive or not.

if the game has elements of a casual game , then it's casual whether we like it or not.
but if it had elements from a hardcore game , then it's hardcore no doubt.

halo 4 is looking to be a game for casuals , NOT hardcore .. it's a fact that even players can't change .. it's in the hands of the developers whether they want it to be hardcore or casual.

*looks at custom game options from every previous Halo that only get more and more detailed*
*looks at Reach playlists with altered/removed bloom*
*looks at 343 saying how Halo 4 will have a more barebones playlist while Infinity will have all of these new features*

I'm pretty sure that you, the player, can change these factors. Maybe not all of them in matchmaking but it's pretty much a given that there will at least be an MLG playlist which is always competitive and there's customs if nothing else.

Now i dont know exactly how it works but typically you can join a session in progress off your friends list. Thus you could betray someone, get booted, then go to their name in your recent players and join their session. Still it would be a pretty easy fix for them to disable joining a game you quit out of.

I thought Halo was supposed to die with Halo 3 anyway and then get spinoffs. It is interesting to see Halo is slowly going towards COD and COD is slowly going towards Halo.

How can you watch Halo 3's Legendary ending and expect that to be the end of the story?

As I said in another topic, the ending was an left 'open' like that in case they ever wanted to make a sequel to the game. However, this doesn't mean that it 'needed' one. Halo 3 ended the story of Halo 1/2/3, and the huge conflict was taken care of. (The enemies were defeated and almost every one went home happy.)

But meh.

Halo has always been the best at being competitive much like Quake and TimeSplitters just to name a couple.

when i say competitive , i mean that you can only rely solely on your SKILL ... you can only win the game against me if you know how to play the game better than me ( your skill is higher than mine ) .

THAT'S competitiveness , we play the game fairly , what's available to you is available to me... guns are scattered on the map, it's available to the both of us.
here, you use your skill to get to the weapon of your choice , and if the other player got there first .. you just have to make-do with your current weapon you just picked up and use your knowledge with this weapon to overcome him.

Some games that are like this are : Quake , Doom and Unreal Tournament

These are some HARDCORE FPS who stay true to their ground by being competitive which makes them hardcore no doubt.

WITH THAT BEING SAID !

making a game that's pretty much like call of duty AKA no skill needed AKA Unlock weapons and perks to ease your path to victory .. is surely abandoning the hardcore/competitive department .

if Halo 4 is going to have this feature of unlocking weapons and perks , then i sadly have to say that Halo Reach is the last halo to be competitive , and that might be the fall of the halo franchise.

I Hope that i'm wrong about the feature of unlocking weapons and perks in Halo 4 .... we're just going to have to wait and see.

so what do you guys think ?

You may unlock weapons and support/tactical packages, but you only get to choose them in certain game modes such as Infinity Slayer, there will still be regular slayer where everyone starts with the same thing i believe
