Why do you hate Call of Duty?

It's not CoD I hate, it's what it's done to the industry. There are so many games going for the CoD crowd now, and it's making a lot of companies think they can get away with churning out the same game every year to staggering sales.

Yep. Pretty much this.

This for me also.

CoD players don't hate Halo, they are comfortable in the knowledge their game is great.

On the opposite side of the fence it seems to be the Halo fans who feel the need to justify why their game is the best since it's not the top dog in sales.

I sat in a Halo 4 livestream and every other minute CoD came up, it's pretty telling to me that Halo fans are insecure when on the week a new Halo release all Halo fans can talk about is CoD.

Also take not on the CoD board this topic is like 5 pages on here it's like 9, says it all.

I hate Call of Duty only because I hate realistic first person shooters where the object is to kill other humans. it's boring and overplayed, and it's especially boring if it's the same theme over and over (old CoD was World War II, which was overdone, and now new CoD is modern-day fake wars... which is now overdone).

I need FPS's to be more special. The targets should be zombies, robots, demons, aliens, etc, and they should have some kind of gimmick to them that makes them special, something like Time Shift and Haze. Or class-based FPS's like Team Fortress 2 and Brink. And if not that, they need to have a compelling story for Campaign mode, which Halo certainly does, at least in my opinion.

Call of Duty is boring as hell. They need to mix it up more. Make a WWII game, then make a modern game, then make a future game, then go back to a WWII game or a modern game, or cover a new historical war, like the Civil War, the American Revolutionary War, the first World War, or the Gulf War. Instead, it's just a barrage of WWII shooters, then one modern game, then another WWII shooter, then a barrage of modern games.

****ing BORING, not just in the theme, but in the story too. It's all just "stop Terrorist A from detonating Bomb B in Location C" for one mission, then repeating the mission later, only with Terrorist B detonating Bomb A in Location D. Or escort Some-Random-VIP-****face to this place while protecting his dumb ass because he'll always stand out in the open because he doesn't care if he eats a bullet, only--oh no, Some-Random-VIP-****face just got kidnapped! Time for the 10 millionth hostage rescue of the game!

Call of Duty and Medal of Honor suck.

COD's more popular right now and threatens Halo's existence, why wouldn't we be paranoid?

When you're being attacked, you defend. COD's popularity threatens the shooter genre as a whole, the infectious plague that it is.

I play Call of Duty. I play Halo. Both allow me to zone out for the hour or two I sit down and play them. They're different, but they're both enjoyable.

I am posting the same question in the Black Ops 2 forum but with Halo in the topic title. I have owned every Halo and Call of Duty game and like both. I prefer COD over the last few years but think both games have their pros and cons. Im curious why all the hate between the Halo and COD fans? Thoughts?

I also prefer COD
but halo is still a good game

Hate is such a strong word. I don't particularly like fps so that's why I don't play either.

I don't hate it, just stopped playing after WaW. Halo has always been my primary FPS

Blops 2 is actually looking pretty good though, I might get it when it comes down in price.

I wouldn't say I hate CoD. I don't like the campaign really, particularly in the modern warfare games, every CoD/MoH/BF with a modern setting feels the same (aaah, terrorists, better kill them). I also don't like the multiplayer's inconsistancies on CoD. I can shoot one guy ten times in the face and not kill him, then the next guy I run into I shoot once, missing their foot by a yard, and they die instantly and I get a headshot awarded when I didn't even come close to one.
