once you have kids you learn to be tired all the time. sleep becomes immaterial.
My wife has always been understanding, or at least tolerant, of my gaming. Pull your weight around the house, help with the kids, etc., she doesn't care. Usually my play time is when she wants to watch one of her shows. But I make sure to have nights during the week when it's just the two of us as well watching a movie. It works out, or at least has worked out for the last 19 years.
I will say gaming is also a great way to bond with your children. Both my sons have/are playing games with me usually.
What you do is let them know that they have options. They can get good and play with you, that works. They can whine and throw a fit, only hurting themselves. In the case of the wife/girlfriend, while you are playing, noone is sucking your d#&$, so you know, give her a little cue here or there, she'll get it.
My wife understands I love to play videogames and is willing to watch the little one here and there so I can play... but since birth she hasn't been feeling well.
So I play when they both sleep, it can be hard to keep one eye on halo and the other on my baby and sometimes I have to afk for a little bit, so when that's the case I try to play big team where no one will notice.
Want to see how to get a bunch of people to talk to you? I'll tell you when 50 people ask me to. Current count : 43 (g',')g
My girlfriend has been nagging at me because I'm spending too much time with Halo (used to be Skyrim) and too much time on my new IPad.
Throwing the controller in anger last night after getting killed didn't please her too much. But I don't really care, if it bothers her that much then she deserves better and should move on. Plenty of fish in the sea for the both of us
