No, he's right. Only a few Spartan 3 squads had energy shields.

i would say 2 ODST's or maybe one really good ODST could canonically take on a low ranking Elite. I really don't see how the Rookie could make it through the whole game without dying though.

The Rookie made it because of his extreme ingenuity. He pieced together everything to get out and used his wits to survive the city at night. I think the Rookie is a rare case of extreme excellence.

Fun fact about Elites: Elites on average are a decent amount physically stronger than even the Spartan II's. In Fall of Reach, when Chief first encounters one in close quarters, he almost gets his ass kicked and dies right then and there because he's caught so off-guard by the strength of the Elite he's tussling with.

Other fun facts (about Spartan II's):

- Kelly is the fastest Spartan ever known (and probably human in general), with a sprint once recorded at 62kph (almost 40 miles per hour). Chief never ceased to be utterly amazed at how she moved. She had to forcibly hold herself back when sparring with other II's or else she would be too quick for them to even remotely handle. She is also probably the Spartan that is closest to Chief, personally.

- Linda is without a doubt the best marksman, who constantly amazed Chief when she was using the UNSC Sniper. At one point in Fall of Reach, she eliminated two targets so quickly that he could not tell which one she had targeted first. She's also considered the strongest, mentally, and the most similar to Chief in that she's incredibly quiet and functions as a lone wolf just as well as she does in a squad. Her greatest feat was when she eliminated 7 separate Elite pilots by sniping them out of their Banshees through the tiny slots in the pilot canopies, while hanging upside down with a broken arm, firing one-handed, from a couple kilometers away.

- Fred is considered "the second best at everything", an overall very solid soldier that could be counted on do perform any task should the main specialist not be able of doing so, including leading the squad. Combat-wise, he is extremely similar to Chief in that they are not particularly skilled at any tasks, but are great leaders.

- All of the remaining alive Spartan II's are supposedly back on Earth at this point in the story, which is where Chief was at right at the end of 4. I really, really hope they do something with this.

Interesting, never saw that. I wonder, though, since Kelly's record I'm pretty sure was recorded in combat but Chief's was during a training exercise. She's still told as easily the fastest and quickest, so I'm guessing that was just Chief going apes*** and pushing himself totally past his limits for a few seconds. I doubt it's something he can do regularly, like her. >_>

Yeah, that log says he tore his Achilles from the speed. Still, I think that's about the max speed.

No... 2>3>1>4.

Johnson was a beast, even without armor making Spartan 1s better than 4s.

Wow you guys must've failed grade school. The numerical order is 1,2,3, then 4.

You must of failed reading and comprehensive, because we are clearly listing the priority of Spartan ability.
