Why the hell is this called "Halo"?

I'm too lazy to read through all the comments. But changing the name of the game loses people. Obviously if you're coming here you have some exposure to gaming on a more industry level.
It would be like if Call of Duty came out under something completely different. The branding has its place in the world. When you say CoD/Halo/Battlefield (just to name the bigger console FPSes) people are able to recognise it. If you named Halo Forerunner or something like that. People are less inclined to buy it. That's why consoles also carry on this.
For example PS1-PS2-PS3.
Xbox and Xbox 360
Sure Nintendo's naming isn't conventional but since when has Nintendo ever followed what others were doing.

There is a halo in this one right when you go to the space research facility.

But its literrally Chief going. "Oh hey another Halo."

Cortana: "Unimportant moving on."
