Never really played Halo much... is Halo 4 an okay jumping on point?

I get that a lot of the single player story will probably go over my head, but even just the "learning curve" for the game... should I worry about getting absolutely destroyed?

Multi is pretty friendly if you've played other FPSs

Starting out I would suggest using the DMR. You can precision aim and pick people off across a map with it.

You should rent it first and see how you like it. The shooting mechanics will probably feel very unfamiliar to you at first.
