Apparently they're toying around with having some of the armour abilities as personal ordnance drops. But I think they're only having thrusters and jet pack, just like Reach.

Can't see Damage Boost being used, but Overshield and Speed Boost maybe. If only as an on map drop, maybe not personal ordnance.

I'll never understand mlg games having restrictions. What's the point of having mlg Halo, if the mechanics are dumbed down to make it closer to other shooters?

To me its just like swat. I'll play it now and then but it's like playing Halo without most of the things that make halo halo. Might as well be CoD

What do you mean? MLG playlists reward skill and promote competitiveness, whereas base multiplayer is usually about "having fun".

The mechanics are not dumbed down at all, they just remove the "luck" and "hand holding" that Reach and Halo 4 have added to the game.

In Halo 4, if you are tired of getting caught off guard, here's an armor ability that lets you see every enemy through walls with a 50 foot radius. Are you tired of dying? Here's an armor ability that lets you become invincible or gives you a shield to deflect upto 5 shots etc. Do you hate that because you keep dying you have to wait 5 seconds or more to respawn? Here is instant respawn so you can get back in the game right away and finish off your attacker whose shields probably haven't even regenerated yet. Are you sad that all the cool kids keep taking the rockets and snipers? Just keep getting random medals like distraction or assists and voila, you can have a brand new sniper or incineration cannon to get kills with.

Are you tired of wasting your sniper bullets because you cannot headshot someone? Here is a one hit kill Binary rifle. You just have to hit them anywhere and it will kill them.

The problem with this is, that these features in the hands of competitve players will just widen the skill gap. Giving expert marksman one-hit kill weapons like binary rifles? Giving them map breaking abilities like Camo or Jetpack? etc.

I don't like MLG, I never play MLG. But I know why it exists and I respect that.

EDIT: Anyone who has played Halo 4 will see that map control is completely dead in Halo 4. There's no point to really even venture outside of your base. You can just "ping" anyone with a DMR from a distance. No need to capture a choke point or try and get a power weapon since personal ordnance will just give you rockets, binary rifles, shotguns, snipers etc.

Because MLG don't dumb down their game types, they refine them to make them balanced and therefore more competitive. It's nothing like CoD, it's just a bare bones Halo designed to be super-fair and super-competitive.

Oh yes this totally widens the skill gap. A skilled player can easily stop a noobs Incineration Cannon in the same room.
