So like... how many spartan ops missions re there going to be

#21Legend_ClanPosted 12/6/2012 6:56:51 AM
There is said to be over 100 episodes in total. So every few weeks they are going to add one mission over a span of about 3 years. And then that is when Halo 5 comes out.

I believe I read somewhere that they already had a season 2 and 3 confirmed, I dont understand why people dont like it as much as firefight, its fun for what it is, its not suppose to be something that you just play over and over again, its a story driven gametype, and people crying that it uses the same maps over and over dont get it, they story involves things happening in those areas, so it makes sense they have to go to that area to do something again, depending on the story goes they will probably have something else happen and in a new season have another set of areas the story will be focused around

I think you answered your own question there. It's not meant to be played over and over again... thats the problem. People want good co-operative multiplayer (because let's face it, there's only so much you can take of "competetive" players in a week before you hate humanity.) but Spartan Ops doesn't fill that void adequately. Spartan Ops is that thing people log in on Monday to do, then don't bother touching ever again until the next episode is out. You play it once then done. Firefight for whatever reason never felt like that. You could play Firefight every day of the week and not get sick of it. In a weird sense the writing (albeit not very good) behind Spartan Ops makes it alot easier to feel like you've been there done that already than I ever felt making up my own stories for defending areas in Firefight.

Did 343 ever like, explain why they didn't add firefight? I liked it sooooo much.
Seems weird....

Wah, wah no fun.
Can gamers not be grateful at all these days?

When you pay $60-$80 for a game nowadays, especially in an economy like this, you have a right to be angry when they half-ass all the cool stuff they said they were going to have.

But then again spartan ops is like, free right? All seasons.... i think.

Exactly. It's free. It continues the story (even if it's not the most complex plot in the world) and it's a blast with 3 buddies, imo.

Lol it's only free with a subscription which, without that, slashes the content of this game in half. You'd only have Campaign, and splitscreen. And a lot of static extra clutter in your menus. This game clearly was meant for you to have a paid subscription at all times.

It is completely unnecessary to say like in every sentence. Seriously. Whenever you're typing something out, it should sound more formal than if you were going to actually say it.

What I meant to say was, campaign and splitscreen versus. Yeah it stinks that there's no firefight, cos that was a big contributor to Reach's replay value. I am hoping Halo 4's Forge community makes up for this.

HAHA why do you type like so often? Usually people use it as a filler word while they're talking to pause and think for a second... but while you're typing you have all the time you want

Where did you get that information? That's wrong. At the moment there are only 10 scheduled episodes. They said they'd consider a Season 2 depending on how well received Spartan Ops is.

Seems like Spartan ops is a 2nd campaign right? They should seriously add Firefight. Its not the same as playing the same mission over and over.
Also I lol'd at your quote of "lallala" seriously made me like ROFL.

They never said why they took it out, but they bragged ALOT about Spart Ops was an "evolution" and the "next step" up from firefight. Even though it's just Firefight with a worse spawning system and some cutscenes thrown in.

Like I said, you wana see the REAL the next evolution of firefight, play Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. They threw "objectives" into their verison of "firefight" but they're randomized every time instead of coming off of a script and the way they have a dynamic spawning system thats based on player location and a randomized enemy faction every game. All this combined makes it so you'll rarely be doing the same thing twice but still still feel like you're doing something canonically relevant. I swear I'm not trying to tout ME3 as the best game ever (it's singleplayer had ALOT of problems and multiplayer has balance issues of its own) but it's multiplayer did alot of stuff right as far as the actual gameplay went, and it's a good example to compare Spartan Ops to to explain what could have been better.
