So can anyone tell why Halo 4 got so boring so quickly?

@iRGush

why don't you substantiate any of your claims?..such as player skill not being rewarded

any direct support except what I assumed (getting killed by the boltshot--use pro vision and stop qqing)?

do you have a problem with ordnance drops? you're a high enough level to have the re-roll skill and you only have to select it when you choose your ordnance, not when you earn

which playlists specifically need to be introduced (or reintroduced)?

which maps from previous halo games would you want in this one (when ragnarok was almost universally praised in its previous incarnation) and how do you think they would interact with the new, and what you call terrible, game mechanics?

feel free to answer any of these questions, or just keep on trollin'

Using a crutch to kill something overpowered isn't the answer. Starting with a 1sk kill with range farther than powerweapons is ridiculous, you can say QQ all you want but it just tells me more about how much less you actually know about making a balanced game.

Randomness is not competitive is ANY way what so ever, it takes to skill and leaves battles up to chance which is in no way skillfull. Re-roll skill only adds chance ontop of chance which is even less uncompetitive.

To touch on player skill, its hardly rewarded as it used to be in previous titles with dying being punished less, power positions being non existent across most maps ("4v4"), weapon spawn time knowledge gone, dynamic spawning taken out, aim assist being ridiculously high that a better shot won't do as much for you as it used to, strafe accelleration being too high, sprint being included again, team attack off in slayer, being able to start with broken armour abilties. Thats just off the top of my head, theres probably tons more I missed.

I

No one would ever complain about playlists this way.

As for maps, I'm not looking for remakes because that doesn't really address bad new maps, living off old maps forever doesn't solve the problem. Having to build a map around sprint ruins map design because the same company that is making the halo 4 maps was founded by the people who made the halo 2 maps. Community forgers can make better maps than complex. Valhalla was only loved in halo 3 because you couldn't cross map with a weapon which completely ruins btb with its ease to use.

so that should help you :)

makes me think you didn't play h2 because it's exactly as it "used to" be (aim assist and bullet magnetism wise). h3 movement speed and strafe acceleration was toned down to compensate for the br no longer being hitscan and the competitive community moaned about it. sprint is here to stay, sorry. going back to h3 feels a little archaic in that respect but it's still there if you want it (albeit with terribad netcode and hard-to-find anything but full party-on-randumb matches) which it sounds like you do. and they balanced the fact that everyone has it with the slowdown effect so teamshotting with the br is still relevant (another check off many haters' list that the dmr is all powerful--it does 95% outclass the br but still..)

the playlists you came up with look fine but I know some (actual legitimately good players) who would miss ranked btb from h2 glory days

also, source? i could be misunderstanding that part. bungie made the h2 maps (a smaller select part of their studio which as far as anyone has reported that I know of, didn't selectively move to 343). frank o'connor (who'd have nothing to do with it) and some others but idk where you got that idea

and complex would be fine if they cut the dmr aim assist range down by 30-40% or so, which I am FINE with them doing

pro-vision and jetpack are the only two AAs worth using so you really shouldn't be dying to boltshotters too much..call it a crutch but you should be calling the boltshot the crutch, and pro-vision the counter crutch

it doesn't ruin anything though (aside from maybe ctf on adrift if your team is losing and they turtle) because 80% of the time, you should have the counter equipped anyway

Certain Affinity was founded by one of the lead map designers from halo 2, it was archived somewhere in thc, I don't remember where the post is but if I ever come across it, i'll be sure to let you know. Also, if halo 2 didn't have button glitches, I'm sure it wouldn't be considered as competitive as it was, plus in halo 2, the high aim assist wasn't coupled with all the crap there is now like instant spawn, high strafe acceleration, perfectly accurate precision weapon, etc.

They needed to release a lot more small/ close quarters maps from launch (or at least in the the new DLC).
Halo has always been about those frantic close encounters. There isnt anything close to Beaver Creek, Lockout, Guardian, Ivory tower, etc.
It also doesnt help that the file sharing system is still down!!

I still play Halo 4 and enjoy it.

For me, the lack of maps hurts this game's longevity. Hopefully, 343 will add forge maps soon and hopefully their next map pack is actually good.

I'm finding a new love of the thruster pack. Don't sleep on it. I just need to master the jump-thrust-assassination technique.

And it's quite satisfying to avoid splatters and stick the odd ghost/warthog with a plasma grenade.

One simple thing could have prevented all of this: a public beta.

but then the badness of the game would have spread due to word of mouth, and then mircosoft would not have made as much money!

I do think the multiplayer is just an improved version of Reach's. But I do admit there as absolutely nothing fun to do in War games. No grifball, infection, assault, etc. CTF is filled with noobs who use the DMR and Boltshot. Same thing with Dominion, just not as much.

Spartan Ops on the other hand is fun. The suspense and difficulty is increasing. I love doing it alone.
