My friend got suspended from Xbox Live for beating someone at Halo 4

Why do think that he got suspended for beating someone when you already knew the answer for why he got suspended in the first place?

He deserved it for such a stupid motto in the first place.

The other guy may have reported your friend because he "owned" him but he was suspended for violating the Code of Conduct.

Don't create a gamertag, profile content, Avatar action, Avatar content, or in-game content that other users may be offended by. This includes, without limitation, anything related to or suggestive of: profane words/phrases, topics or content of a sexual nature, hate speech (including but not limited to racial, ethnic, or religious slurs), illegal drugs/controlled substances, or illegal activities.

Live will suspend you for profane words even if you use asteriks to censor the word. So f**k and s**t will still get you banned. Also context does not matter to them so the excuse "It's in a songs lyric", etc makes no difference.

For habitual offenders they will ban your Live account until 12/31/9999. Anyone caught modding gets a console ban.Ip bans are rare but they do use them.

I remember some guy that was modding in MW2 and got into a battle with an XBOX rep named "The Pro". He posted an edited version of a in-game conversation with him on YT trying to make The Pro out as some kind of bully. Long story short this guy would get banned then create another account, that would be banned immediately. Then his console was banned, so he then went out and bough a new xbox which was banned within 10 minutes.
