What we perceive as 'memorable' or 'groundbreaking' is nothing more than experiencing something great for the first time. At this point you are desensitized and nothing will 'stick' as much.

Exactly. People enjoyed Halo 1 and 2 so much because it was brand new. They were younger, more easily accepting of things. Halo 2 had it's flaws, but people thought they were cool.
