My advice to you, if you care about sound quality, don't get a headset. Get a pair of headphones and a separate mic. If you don't care about sound quality, get a headset with the most reputable build quality.

A big draw back to doing it that way is the game sound when someone chats is god awful as you have to have it set to play through speakers. Doing that atm and it is awful.

Team chat goes perfectly through my headphones. I don't know what to tell you.

Perfection. Where everyone fails.
If you expect nothing you can be happy for everything.

Doesn't it make the game sound quite a bit quieter when someone talks?

No. In fact, even with the audio coming out right next to my ears, I still can't hear half the people that talk because of how terrible the sounds are in this game.

Obnoxiously loud menu music? Check. Obnoxiously loud gun sounds that drown out everything? Check. Reach was perfectly fine, but this game is atrocious with its audio volume being all wrong.

I think if you set the "Game Volume" to 10 and the "Voice Volume" to 5 or 6, you should be good.

get these. its a no brainer. astro quality for 1/4th the price.

Despite the temporary fix I made to my headset a week or so ago they finally gave up.

Order a pair of the siberias, found them quite a bit cheaper than the ones on amazon. Worked out they cost ~5 more than a pair of Turtle Beach X12s, so not too bad hopefully.

my steel series headset came with a little mixamp thing. i cant remember if i had to pay extra for it.. if i did im sure it wasnt more than 10 bucks. alternatively you could just buy an astro mixamp and it should work no problem, but im pretty certain those are decently expensive
