I had stayed away from this game due to the poor amount of content. After reading around and getting the impression that the core gameplay is actually pretty good I went ahead and bought it and downloaded all the free DLC. For anyone who is on the fence about buying this game I would say go ahead and give it a try. The racing itself is the usual Ridge Racer fare and the graphics look very nice. Controlling with the stick is good, for those wondering about the control. Yeah, there is a certain amount of grinding needed to upgrade the cars, but the racing is fun enough that the grind is not too bad. Online racing is fun in Ridge Racer as well. I cannot wait for more content to be released, and wish Namco had just included everything at once on the cartridge.
I agree - I think I have spent more time with this game on the Vita than any other yet.
I agree. I finally gave in and got it from "L*****z" for 21 bucks and loved the game since. Content-wise is a huge disappointment compared to RR on the PSP but I enjoy the core mechanics nonetheless. I also found myself spending a lot more time on this game than any other games I have.
We now have 6 courses so the game has grown double since its original release! The seventh course comes out in three weeks with the eighth and nineth following a week later. These are good courses coming out to wrap up the first season pass for Japanese version owners. They're the three brand new courses made for Ridge Racer 3D.
This game is also better than Unbounded. Way, way, better. The only good that could come out of that game is if they transplanted the new songs and cars for this game as DLC.
The game is light on content and very shallow, yet it is extremely addicting and fulfilling. Go figure.
It is a travesty that this game is the lowest rated Vita game at the moment, this is probably my favorite Vita game so far, its pretty much been the only game in my Vita since I got it on 3/17.
I guess it's low rated because of the "demo" thing... personally I rated it pretty high. Loving the game, except for the weird looking bounces when you hit the road's edge. I know that's been present in every RR game but still... it's one of those things that could use a total change - grinding the walls, or even crashing, but that bouncing looks like crap.
