The first in the timeline, SS, has Gorons. The last games in two of the three timelines, FSA and ST, have Gorons. It's like Gorons are a constant of the Zelda universe.
They survived Ganondorf's reign, the Great Flood, and all kinds of other stuff. It seems that the only thing that killed them in one timeline was the Seal War.

They eat rocks and can make and live in caves. Pretty good mechanism for hiding and avoiding conflict and surviving pretty much anywhere. --- http://s1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee424/ehsteve12/ My Legend of Zelda Collection - Last update Feb. 4/13

They're freaking rocks. Rocks survive milennia.
They all watch how you die and rot under the ground, yet they lay still, lifeless, always watching.
