Oracle of Ages: - Flawless, never really seen any complaints for it. The Wind Waker: - My complaints: Not enough dungeons; dungeons are too easy/not as well-designed as any of the other 3D Zeldas. - Others' complaints: Sailing is too slow/tedious. I believe this is mainly because people don't actually explore until they're forced to (the Triforce quest). This is THEIR fault for rushing the game. I played Wind Waker at a slow pace, and the sailing was majestic. Ocarina of Time: - Flawless; the greatest game of all time. If I had to complain about one thing, though, the controls are poor. This is fixed in the remake, however. - Others' complaints: Bland overworld. I don't really see how this is a complaint, as the overworld mainly acts as a hub. The REAL exploration takes place in the places the overworld leads you to. This is a problem in Twilight Princess, but definitely not OoT.

Link to the Past: My complaints: * Lack of characterization for... everyone. XD * Could use more tracks in its OST. * You shouldn't have to die/quit to save. Others' complaints: * Threadbare story (there was enough there that I was satisfied, but as mentioned above I would have liked a little more characterization) * Difficulty (ALttP is as hard or easy as you allow it to be thanks to the item set) * Dungeons are boring/repetitive (never felt this way. Having different dungeon songs/updated graphics might change people's minds, though, and I certainly wouldn't object to such additions) Eh, it's kind of late so if I remember I'll do others later. --- "Do unto others 20% better than you would expect them to do unto you, to correct for subjective error." - Linus Pauling
Twilight Princess Flaws: It was too easy, even on a 3-heart challenge. The controls for the Kargarok on the Wii version are atrocious, and the only time I found myself wanting normal controls. The acquisition of the Horse Call comes way too late, as Epona is made virtually obsolete by then by warping. I like: The vast majority of the Wii controls. The Nunchuk spin attack is nice and easy to use, and the ranged item aiming is easily the best in the series. The wagon escort mission is great. I loved Hyrule Field and traversing it on Epona. Majora's Mask Flaws: The Pirate Fortress mission for the Zora Eggs. Underuse of some masks (Circus Leader Mask has literally one use, and the sidequest can be EASILY completed without it). Beneath the Well is also a pretty annoying quest. I like: The time limit. It's a clever mechanic allowing for a unique story, and with the Inverted Song of Time, it's really not even that noticeable. I HATE it when people say "I hate playing with a time limit", IIRC with the ISoT you get over 3x the time to complete your tasks in, and save where appropriate. I liked the focus on sidequests, Zelda is just just about the dungeons. Minish Cap Flaws: The overworld can occasionally be confusing to navigate, especially where recent Kinstone Fusions or being Minish sized is involved. I didn't like the permanent change to Castle Town shortly before the final dungeon, with areas and people being locked out. You are given far too many Mysterious Shells to carry unless you're constantly buying figurines. I like: Kinstones, for the most part. It was a cool idea to add some function to NPCs. I imagine a lot of people hate the Goron quest for the empty bottle, but I kinda like it.

But it's also what 90% of people complain about in LoZ and alttp. It went from exploration to bomb farming to blow every square up to look for a hole. That isn't fun --- WotLK ending cinematic: Arthas:Father.....is this over?.... Father:no my son....the raid resets next week.. Who noticed I fixed the Typos? only took 4 years :)
From: metroidfreakv4 | #016 It went from exploration to bomb farming to blow every square up to look for a hole. That isn't fun Bomb farming is only in Zelda 1, and it's a YMMV thing. For some it can be fun, for others, not so much. I personally love it. The bombs serve an actual purpose there. I seriously wish for the glorious return of that. You darn kids have grown accostumed to being handled everything, what with in-game maps, help characthers, infinite lives, and this very site. That isn't fun And yet you did find ALttP... "with not-enough hand-holding"? Really? That's has to be the worst criticism I ever seen about a Zelda game. Everyone knows that what is killing the industry now is the hand-holding, the QTEs, the DRM, the linearity and lack of exploration, the shooting, the brown, the complete lack of difficulty, and yearly installments. As you see, Zelda has suffered a bit from those lately. --- King of the Zelda Wii U Board Mog can go **** himself - Members of the ZWU Board

As you see, Zelda has suffered a bit from those lately. This is 100% accurate, inciteful and valid. When they were new QTE were not bad, now the over litter every game. DRM makes games unplayable (SimCity is the latest casualty). And yearly installments are killing IPs (AC - even the developers stated they want next gen to try something new). As for the lack of handholding in ALttP I agree it's what made it great. I couldn't get to the bottom floor of the Eastern Palace for Years while playing with a friend. When I finally was able to, my victory dance rocked. You dont see that anymore. --- Despite the numerous argument on which Final Fantasy is the best - we can all agree FFXIII sucked. |
