The thing "surrounding" the very forces of nature is the part that throws me off. I thought even outer space is a force of nature is it not? So what can "surround" that?

Nevertheless, this is one intense riddle...

I must think some more before guessing.

You know, after reading this a dozen times or so, I really doubt that the answer behind this riddle will add up to all this writing. And if it does, then you sir, are a genius.

I'm not entirely certain what you mean by this.

Of course the answer makes sense with every line to me-if it didn't, I wouldn't have written it that way.

Then again, what I think is logical sense may be a stretch to someone else. So try to think of every possible angle.

Anyway, to help out, I am not considering space a force of nature here. You can stick to Earth for this one.

Also, if it wasn't clear, line 1 of the first stanza and line 2 of the second are talking about the same thing.

Maybe the lift in the Forest temple that requires the 4 flames?

I have what the hero can never have, - a purple flame. Link has a red, green and blue flames/ lights in the game.
All must go through me before the world can be saved, - self. exp counting Phantom Ganon as the image of the final boss
I surround the very forces of nature, - kind of self exp too
In the forefront of everyone's mind, I am second of all, - not too sure. Everyone is more interested in the flames before they realize it is a lift
And yet, without me, nothing would change. - the different pictures in the temple wouldn't have the ghost images, for example

I have one cousin.

It does not match my scope, nor my power.
And yet, it is directly in the center of another force of nature-
One over which I do not have direct control. - maybe a reference to the TP torches

If not the purple ghost in said temple or just the torches.
