I think that, with the rise of simplistic, 2D games, that the Zelda series could use a classic reboot. Obviously keep the 3D games coming, but who else would be interested in a brand new, top-down adventure Zelda game, along the lines of Zelda I, LttP, the Oracles, etc? It could make use of a brand new art style that would take advantage of the new gameplay (Perhaps something akin to the stain-glass look of the Wind Waker concept art?), the Wii U pad could be used for various things (Map screen, quick item selection, portable control, etc), it likely would sell a ton better than the latest games due to its simplistic style, while at the same time catering to both new and old fans with its classic gameplay and perhaps harder difficulty due to classic design, etc.
Even if it's for the 3DS, I just want to see more top-down Zelda love, we haven't seen a proper title since Minish Cap, why the absence?
EDIT: ALSO. It would be a good opportunity to create some Four Sword style co-op, with the U Pad involved, we can have one player on screen and the other on the pad. Perfect opportunity.
I don't know about the 3DS games, since I haven't played them, but in my opinion, the 2D games are largely inferior to the 3D games, but I'd be okay with more of them as long as we still get 3D games at the same rate as we would without the new 2D games. --- Not changing this sig until we get a new main series Tales game released on a Nintendo console in the US
I would have no problem with another 2D Zelda, considering ALttP is the best game in the series, imo. --- Before me things create were none, save things eternal, and eternal I endure. Official Dark Emperor Mundus of the DmC board
2D Zeldas have been in a steady decline since Minish Cap. Zelda or not ST wasn't even worth playing. Nintendo needs to figure out what the hell happened or scrap the 2D games entirely. --- http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/9710/bossqt.jpg http://www.zeldaeternity.com/2011/05/you-might-be-a-zelda-hipster/
