Yeah, I know I said I was doing Ocarina of Time next, but a friend of mine just started Phantom Hourglass and we want to go through it together so we can trade ship parts. Sorry guys! I hope you don't mind me doing Phantom Hourglass first! MEETING CIELA, OSHUS, & LINEBECK PLUS ARRIVING AT THE ISLE OF EMBER Current Game Time: 46 Minutes Things I like so far... I like that it took under an hour to get into sailing and exploring. I think this game does a nice job of getting you through the tutorials quickly. Ciela is one of my favorite partners. She has yet to talk outside of when it's necessary for the story. I like her personality as well. Linebeck cracks me up. I remember hating Linebeck on my first run through this game, but now he cracks me up. I actually enjoy sailing in Phantom Hourglass more than I do in Wind Waker. It's just more relaxing, in my opinion. Plus it doesn't take as long to get to your destination as well. Things I don't like so far... I kind of wish that I could just go straight into Oshus's Hideout and get the Sword without having to travel to the northern path. It's not that big a deal, but I already know what to do for the Sword, so I don't want to have to travel to the north path first. I also don't like that I actually have to go to the port and milk bar before I'm allowed to go to the Temple of the Ocean King. I know Linebeck is there already! I don't need to be told he went there! Whatever... Overall thoughts so far... This will be my third run of Phantom Hourglass, and I look forward to it. Especially since I'm going to be doing a Semi Co-op Run with a friend, hopefully me and him can collect all the Ship Parts without much trouble, lol. So far I haven't done much outside of the main quest. I just got the Sword and went to the Temple of the Ocean King. I got the Southwestern Sea Chart, and before I left Murray Island I bought a Wooden Shield since I couldn't quite afford it before going to the Temple of the Ocean King. After that I left and sailed to the Isle of Ember, I saved and quit there. My only complaints are really small ones in that I just kind of wish I didn't have to go through the minor story elements leading to the Temple of the Ocean King and to get the Sword. Good luck. I honestly think PH and ST are great games, despite all of the hate. --- "Offense is the ultimate defense. If that were true, nobody would die, you know?" - Tales of Symphonia
About time the DS duo (hopefully) got some love, they're awesome but they're regarded as filth here on gamefaqs. --- Had a Street Fighter signature for four years, but Crapcom doesn't deserve such recognition anymore.
PH was pretty meh, but ST is god tier. Good lcuk. --- Kupo King of the Skyward Sword Revolution - Fighting for a better board free of suck -
ST was awesome but I don't remember much about PH. I guess I'll have to play it again. --- Currently playing: Patapon, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time and Assassin's Creed.
TEMPLE OF FIRE AND GETTING NORTHWESTERN SEA CHART Current Game Time: 1 Hour, 39 Minutes Things I like so far... Microphone use, I like how they actually make you use it for stuff like blowing out candles or hollering to people on the other side of doors. Boomerang, I like the way how you use it in this game. It's always fun to bring it out and draw a bunch of circles around Link to make a "Boomerang Barrier". Things I don't like so far... Sometimes when I use the L Button to bring out my Boomerang, I end up drawing the Boomerangs path and then accidentally letting go of the L Button before lifting the Stylus thus causing Link to put the Boomerang away and make all the drawing I did pointless. Overall thoughts so far... Loving this game so far. The Temple of Fire was really easy, but I didn't mind it because it's the first dungeon and I get one of my favorite weapons to use in the game already. Blaaz was insanely easy. I didn't get hit once. I don't even know what kind of attacks this guy has, haha. After beating him I went back to the fortune teller and she gave me a Power Gem, nice! I went back to the Temple of the Ocean King to get the Northwestern Sea Chart. So far the Temple of the Ocean King isn't annoying me. I know it will later, but for now it isn't so bad. On the way back to Mercay Island I stopped by Beedles Shop and bought a Shell Anchor. I couldn't help but chuckle when I looked at my current game time after getting the next Sea Chart. I couldn't help but think "Wow, in the time it took me to finally be able to fly to the forest in Skyward Sword, I've already done the tutorials, sailed to my first Island, completed the pre-dungeon puzzles there, completed the first temple, visited Beetles Shop, and got the second sea chart from the Temple of the Ocean King in Phantom Hourglass". I mean, I know Skyward Sword is a bigger game, but it still gave me a chuckle. Final Random Thought: Leaf seems like a strange name for a fairy, let alone a fairy you save from the FIRE Temple, lol. New Items: Boomerang 1 Power Gem (1/20 Power Gems Collected) Shell Anchor (1/64 Ship Parts Collected) --- The Old School Video Game King!! http://www.youtube.com/user/Redmage1987
LLL_Deadly posted... Good luck. I honestly think PH and ST are great games, despite all of the hate. --- Currently playing: New Super Mario Bros. U, Natural Selection 2, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, Halo 4, Paper Mario Sticker Star, Nintendoland
COMPLETING TEMPLE OF WIND Current Game Time: 3 Hours, 46 Minutes Things I like so far... I like that the shovel gets plenty of use in this game. I have found several good items and secrets hidden in the ground, plus it actually gets used a little bit for puzzles, such as stopping the gusts of wind from coming out of the ground. Finding hidden islands, it's always a great feeling of "Holy Crap! An undiscovered island!! I wonder what reward awaits me there!" Finding Power/Wisdom/Courage Gems, just that feeling of knowing you're that much closer to leveling up one of your fairys is awesome. Things I don't like so far... The parts where they make you walk slowly on sand otherwise it'll wake the sand worms. I never have the patience to walk slowly, so I just take whatever damage and break pots to get my health back. Overall thoughts so far... I did a little bit of extra sailing and side quests outside of the main quest. I went to the uncharted island and got the cyclone slate. I didn't have to actually draw out the map to do the puzzle for it since I remembered everything from my last playthrough. I still drew it out anyway though, lol. Other than that I just payed a vist to the 2 explorer ships and saved the one guy and "trained" with the other. They gave me some treasures, but I'll just end up selling them later. First thing I did in the main quest was buy a cannon. Which is nice to be able to finally fight enemies at sea, but I especially can't wait for the salvage arm so I can get my rewards from the Treasure Maps. The only stuff I did on Molidia Island was find the explorers hide out and learn the path through the fog, other than that I haven't done much else there. I thought the Temple of Wind was a lot of fun. It wasn't hard at all, but still a lot of fun. I especially liked the boss of the dungeon. Throwing the bombs into the whirlwinds and watching them get shot up to the top screen was awesome, haha. After finishing off the Temple of Wind I went right back to Mercay Island. I saved and quit there. New Items: Cannon Shovel Bomb Bag Cyclone Slate 5 Power Gems (6/20 Collected) 3 Wisdom Gems (3/20 Collected) 2 Courage Gems (2/20 Collected) 5 Treasure Maps (5/31 Collected) Streange Chimney (2/64 Ship Parts Collected) --- The Old School Video Game King!! http://www.youtube.com/user/Redmage1987
Oh, I remember the Wind Temple boss being one of the first things shown about the game. I thought it looked great! Good times. :P --- Had a Street Fighter signature for four years, but Crapcom doesn't deserve such recognition anymore.
Haven't played Spirit Tracks, but I really like Phantom Hourglass. The touchscreen is great for all the weapons, the DS puzzles are really clever, the boss fights are incredibly well done, customizing the ship is a cool feature, you can use the touchscreen as a notepad!, and Linebeck is such an excellent partner character. Perhaps the most underrated of the Zelda games. |
