Yes indeed. Moreover, if you are an unlucky s o b (as in, uh, someone who sobs because they are sad and stuff) so as to be deprived of the internet, then I'm afraid solo trials will be your sole source of gaining experience to level up.

i am the saddest of all ninjas!

I'm only 2 away (LD ALMA,LD LIZ) from having all leader,mentor and acolyte completed solo.

i beat MN08 last week with a stranger and thought 'so this what it feels like to win with a partner' haha

to answer the thread question:
-in solo trails you gain more karma(because you do all the killing)
-in solo and trails your ninja levels quicker
-in clan battles your weapons level faster

Karma tends to relegate towards XP
The majority of Karma gained from Contracts allocate to (filling) the Weapon Level Bar
