It could be a hammer and just be the Mario RPG series, where characters like Paper Mario or Fawful could be represented.

I don't see the point in separating him from the Mario series. Even if it's a different genre from the main Super Mario games, Paper Mario is still a Mario game.

I view Paper Mario as being the equivalent to Toon Link; a different iteration of a series' main rep. And since Toon Link is still a Zelda rep, I say Paper Mario should remain a Mario rep.

I'm gonna have to go with no... Paper Mario is...well part of the Mario series, along with the other RPGs and the sports and party spinoffs. Yoshi is barely his own series...
