7. In February 2012, Sakurai commented that, in his brainstorming for the future title, he had been looking over the information on the Smash Bros. Dojo (the official Smash Bros. website) and reflecting on Brawl's development.

I had not seen this one. Hm I hope that means he's looking at certain AT's, and plans to make them playable in SSB4. I would really like to play as Lyn for SSB4 :D.

Hopefully he's looking at when Lucas was confirmed and plans to add his brother.
Hopefully he's looking at when Ashley's theme was confirmed and plans to make her playable.

And hopefully he finally decides to add Lip. Yes so much speculation!

UPDATED:

1. The game started development in Febuary 2012.

2. Sakurai would like to bring back retro characters.

3. Namco-Bandai is co-developing the game.

4. Sakurai confirmed this game will not have as many newcomers as some may be expecting.

5. The game is a joint-project between Sora Ltd. and Namco Bandai.

5. For the 3DS version, Sakurai wants it to be more of an "individual" and "customizable" experience where, hypothetically, the player could take a customized character and upload it to the Wii U version

6. Sakurai stated that a Capcom character is not out of the realm.

7. In February 2012, Sakurai commented that, in his brainstorming for the future title, he had been looking over the information on the Smash Bros. Dojo (the official Smash Bros. website) and reflecting on Brawl's development.

8. He later commented that the game will "change directions", and emphasized connectivity between systems again.

9. By June 2012, Sakurai reported that the game's development was in its first steps, and that he intends to bring back old Nintendo characters for it.

10. In August 2012, Sakurai stated that while the addition of third-party characters appealed to fans and broadened the Smash Bros. audience, he recognized the need to narrow down their inclusion since introducing non-Nintendo characters "willy-nilly" would lose focus of the game. He also noted that the game system had been completed. Feeling that the series had found its target audience and introducing gimmicks would hinder rather than help the brand, Sakurai explained that he was thinking of ways to introduce a new, different experience, while retaining the frantic gameplay from previous installments.

11. The game on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be different in some way.

12. Sakurai stated "Itís fun making skills for new characters." Which could mean some clones from the previous will be decloned and newcomers would not be cloned.

13. Sakurai had studied Street Fighter IV for brainstorming ideas.

Your expectations were too simple and downright stupid. Really? No character will have their testicles hang out?
Thanks to you, I had to add two new rules.

I think it has more to do with learning how to incorporate diagonal moves into the special attacks. Whether that means hadouken motions or simply Diagonal B button attacks is still up in the air.

I hope Smash doesn't go 3D and sticks with 2D.

The game system was completed so fast, doubt it was enough time to make the familiar control scheme mesh with an environment with 360 of movement like Soul Calibur or Tekken.

Interesting. I didn't know about some of this either! Thank you, fellow Pichu supporter :3

Glad to see I'm not the only one who wants the adorable self-destructive rodent to make a triumphant return.
